Washington Supreme Court races

Oct 15
1 min read

While the initiatives deservedly get a lot of attention, the Washington State Supreme Court races are the most consequential decisions on this year's ballot. Five of the nine seats are up for election. That is over half of a court that has repeatedly ignored the will of the people and the actual text of Washington's Constitution. Here are some of their recent greatest hits:

  • Overturned Spokane's anti-camping ordinance, approved by 75% of the voters to protect our school and parks.

  • Struck down Energy Choice Initiative, which protected access to natural gas and received over 1.9 million votes

  • Upheld the Capital Gains Tax as constitutional, somehow finding capital gains somehow are not income like they are everywhere else

I like the initiatives and will vote "YES" to protect girls' sports, parents' rights and stop another unconstitutional income tax. I will vote for supreme court races to ensure my YES vote isn't discarded by activist in robes. Below are my picks to start upholding the law.

Justices serve six-year terms. This is a unique opportunity to make a big change that will last a long time. Tell your family, friends and neighbors to vote 'YES' on initiatives, but don't let them seal up their ballot until they've also voted to elect justices who will be faithful to the law.
